J+J Director of Product Innovation to Deliver Research-Based Presentation “Human-Centered Properties of Flooring”
DALTON, Ga. May 13, 2015 – J+J Flooring Group announced today that it is partnering with The Center for Health Design (CHD) to hold three professional networking and educational events this year.
At each Health Design Insights and Networking event, J+J’s Director of Product Innovation Keith Gray will deliver an important and timely research-based presentation, “The Human-Centered Properties of Flooring.” Gray’s presentation reveals findings used to develop a series of technical papers regarding the implications of flooring in healthcare facilities. Citing technical studies and a diverse body of peer-reviewed literature, Gray will point out recent data on how flooring affects acoustics, mobility, slip/fall injuries, anti-fatigue performance and the spread of disease. The presentation will assist architects, designers and facility planners in making well-informed flooring decisions based on human-centered metrics.
Gray will be presenting along with other industry experts May 13, at the Kaiser Permanente Center for Total Health in Washington, D.C. Other presentations include: “The Voice of the Consumer” by Barbara Huelat, FASID, AAHID, EDAC, principal at Huelat Davis; “Lessons from Patients” by Barbara Kubasti, AIA, EDAC, principal at ZGF Architects LLP; “Ensuring a Healthy and Safe Play Environment for Children” by Steven Wilson, business development associate at Playtime; and “Top Ten Considerations When Renovating Your Aging Patient Bed Tower,” by Adrian Hagerty, AIA, LEED AP, vice president at Array Architects. The presentations start at 4:30 p.m. and will be followed by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 p. m.
Attendees will receive one EDAC/AIA credit. The events are designed to unite the regional healthcare design community in intimate settings to provide professional connectivity and continuing education.
The other Health Design Insights and Networking events will be in Boston June 25 and New York City Sept. 16 (locations to be announced soon). As with the Washington, D.C., event, these events also start at 4:30 p.m. and end at 7:30 p.m.
All CHD professional networking events are free for CHD Affiliate members, Thought Leaders and Thought Leader guests. Reservations can made online at the RSVP page. Non-CHD affiliate members can attend the upcoming Washington, D.C., event for a donation of $40.
“Human-centered metrics plays a critical role in designing, building and operating health facilities today,” said Gray. “Understanding and applying these metrics properly can lead to safer buildings that also improve the quality of life for patients and those who work in these buildings. We are delighted to share our findings and discuss how the proper flooring solution can create positive outcomes for all involved.”
J+J Flooring Group has extensively promoted the principals of evidence-based design and human-centered metrics through the creation of focused continuing education units, technical documents and product research.
J+J Flooring Group has been a dedicated partner to CHD since 2012, sponsoring events, including its annual Research Coalition meeting in 2014, and contributing to its mission by providing technical information and research findings.
